Shabby Tea Room Challenge

I made this card for the Shabby Tea Room challenge.  Just discovered their site this week and it looks like fun.  Please visit their blog, you may be interested in creating a card for this week's challenge.

My design is inspired by Nichole Segnere; her card is 'Don't Rain on My Parade'.  Ya'll that know me know that I'm color-blind so my colors may not match as well as Nichole's, but I'm really happy with how the overall project turned out.

My project supply list is included below!

Thanks for visiting my blog!

Week #33 - 'Consider it CASED!'

I am your host this week for our Tea Room Challenge and I've chosen the theme of  'Consider it CASED'!  How fun!  This week I'd love for you to create a card or project that is inspired by one of the Shabby Girls' Design Team projects listed below!  CASE = Copy And Edit Slightly, so pick your favorite card and designer from this post and then CASE it!  Maybe you like the layout, maybe you love the colors, maybe you're inspired by the theme, maybe you love the embellies used ... that's it!  Just pick one designer and her DT card below and then go make one similar to it!  Can't choose just one DT member, then feel free to CASE two, three or everyone on the team and submit all your cards and projects! BE SURE TO TELL US WHICH DESIGNER'S CARD YOU CASED FOR YOUR DESIGN!

Supply list ...

  • 4"x5.5" white card

  • 2 strips of double-sided paper (mine is green with a bit of mauve in it, at least that is what my cross-reference sheet says!), cut the bottom strip approximately 3"x5.5" and trim down to 2.5" using decorative edged scissors on one side, and the top strip is approximately 2"x5.5"

  • Mauve card stock ... small scrap, approximately 3.75"x3.75"

  • White card stock ... small scrap, approximately 3.5"x3.5"

  • Ribbon ... I tied a bow then ran a length of ribbon around the top and bottom of the layered strips before adhering to the top of the card

  • Elmer's Fabric & Paper Adhesive ... used to adhere the ribbon to the paper

  • 'Frog' rubber stamp

  • 'Umbrella' rubber stamp

  • 'Friend' clear stamp

  • Dragonfly brads

  • Micron black 005 pen ... used to draw dragonfly trails and rain drops

  • Reeves watercolor paint ... watercolor everything except the umbrella

  • Koi water brush

  • GelWriters - used to color the umbrella, then used Koi water brush to soften the ink effect

  • Decorative edge scissors
