Week #36 The Shabby Tea Room Challenge

Week #36 in the Tea Room brings Lisa as our host and she has chosen this {sweet}, seasonal photo as inspiration for us to work with ...

... and asks that you make a card or project to share something that you are thankful for!  Everyone living in the US will be celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday next week, so this is perfect timing to get your holiday cards made to send to loved ones!!  I realize that everyone who visits the Tea Room does not celebrate this holiday, so let's open this challenge up to any thankful theme ... what are you thankful for OR Thanksgiving OR thank you cards and/or using some of the colors from the inspiration photo -- one or ALL!  Have fun with this week's challenge -- we can't wait to see what you create :)

I am thankful for our veterans. Without them we would not have the life we have today in the United States of America. I am proud of them and am thankful for everything that each of them has given up to serve our great country.  Many ran, many hid but these men stood up and fought to protect our freedom and our values, and continue to do so today. We could never thank them enough for all they have sacrificed to serve our country.

The image used for this card is from The Graphics Fairy.  She has to be the sweetest person on the web to do all she does to find and share these images with anyone who wants to use them.  Thank you, Karen!

How it was done ...
The background color was removed from the image using Corel PaintShop Pro X3. The text was created in Word (to get the curve).  The image and words were designed using PowerPoint and printed on Watercolor White cardstock from The Paper Company.  Fiskars Deckle Paper Tear Edger was used to tear along the side of the white cardstock.  Tim Holtz Distress Antique Linen ink was applied with the Inkssentials blending tool to the picture and along the edges (this didn't show up too well in the scan).  Four tiny star brads in each corner.  The red strips were embossed with Sizzix Easy Emboss Funky Spots and sanded.  The background cardstock is Patriot Blue Cover by The Paper Company.  The blue cardstock is inked around the edges with Stampabilities white pigment ink.

Thanks for visiting.
